How Big Is The Sleeping Pill Market?
I know that I struggle with periodic insomnia. It’s not any fun, and, it’s really been ultimately quite disruptive to my life and relationships. This lead to my journey through the world of sleeping pills, which ended, thankfully, with Rozerem.

I was wondering the other day just how pervasive sleeping problems are in our society (America) and internationally. I found an informative article which gives an interesting picture of this.
To get an idea, it’s always good to look to the spending of direct-to-consumer advertising. In the case of sleep medications, we see that last year $600 million was spent (which is double the year prior!) In 2006, Americans spent nearly $4 billion on prescription sleeping pills; and, by 2014, the market is expected to expand to $5.5 billion. Bear in mind, in 2005, over 43 million sleeping pill prescriptions were filled!
So, you can clearly see that insomnia affects a lot of people, and, an awful lot of revenue is generated because of this problem.
